The Art of Making: an Introduction to Hands-on System Design and Engineering, is a course that teaches principles of human-centered design and the skills to build and implement prototypes. My team built a device that plays music when being drawn on for our capstone project. It uses traditional materials like paper an markers which are transformed into musical creations to match the drawings. We won the award for Best Project Integrating Engineering and the Humanities at Design Expo our freshman year. See more about our process and the project.

As a full-time engineering co-op in the Product Design department, I designed tread patterns, sidewall fonts, and other tread features. 3 designs I worked on will be in production beginning in 2020. While I was on the Product Design team, I spearheaded a joint discussion with Marketing and led brainstorming workshops to introduce new creative techniques. The content of my work is trade secret, but please ask me questions about my experiences, impact, and lessons.

In my class Composing Digital Media, I learned many different ways to present information digitally. One of the programs we worked with was Adobe AfterEffects. This piece is an animation of a chalk drawing I created. The piece is a fun study in digital art and communication, and the possibilities provided by the Adobe suite programs. I strongly believe in learning throughout life. Learning doesn't just take place in a classroom at a school, it is always happening, even if we don't recognize it. I make it a point to read, listen, and watch content that teaches me about this world and the people in it.
